Seminar in Multicultural Management

 Foundations of Multicultural Management Taxonomy

As a global change agent, independent scholar, and current or future business professional, you may become responsible for initiating or managing multiculturalism initiatives. This can be a complex task, depending on the nature and structure of the organization. Having the foundational works of theorists may help you reach your goals, however, because within these theories are constructs or tenets that, when applied, can shape your own view and strategic approach to multicultural management for the purpose of mitigating risks, as well as supporting organizational initiatives.

#This week, you will have an opportunity to become familiar with some theorists and their theories related to multicultural management.

  1. To prepare for this Assignment, review this week’s Learning Resources as well as any additional sources of your choosing.
  2.  Research the theorists who developed theories related to multicultural management, and compile key information as part of your review.
  3. Submit an evaluation of at least three foundational theories in the form of a properly formatted, APA-compliant taxonomy table.

For each of the theories you select, you should include the following:

  • The name of the theory
  • The year the theory was introduced
  • The theorist/author
  • Key components of the theory
  • Statement of how the theory will help you apply the rules and tips provided by the literature

For each theory presented, be sure to include a minimum of two references to peer-reviewed, scholarly journals, as well as appropriate in-text citations.

A Reflection on a Good Leader

What personal capacities should a person develop to be a good leader versus those developed to be a good manager?

Those who want to be good leaders should focus on developing personal capacities including emotional connections, maintaining an open mind, communication skills, courage, and insight into their personal character (Daft, 2016). Those who strive to be good managers should focus on a different set of personal capacities including emotional distance, talking, conformity, and insight into the organization (Daft, 2016). These attributes are often opposites of each other, as leaders and managers have opposing focuses.

Why do you think there are so few people who succeed in both Management and Leadership? Is it reasonable to believe someone can be good at both?

I believe that there are so few people who succeed in both management and leadership because they require different skill sets. The main difference that prevents people from being successful in both fields is who the focus is on. In my experience, successful managers are more focused on the bottom line and earnings. Successful leaders are more focused on the individuals behind the end goal and what can be done to assist them in being the most successful versions of themselves. I believe it is reasonable for someone to excel in both management and leadership, I just don’t believe it is very common.

Describe the best leader you have known. How did this leader acquire his or her capability?

The best leader I know is my mentor, he has taught me so much in so many aspects of life. He gained his capability to lead through many years of experience and developing interpersonal relationships. He maintains a level of professionalism while remaining kind, affirmative, and respectful. He has led me and many others into successful careers in fields where our skills are best put into practice. He has taught me so much in terms of our field, but also so many additional valuable life lessons.

Write 200 words of your reflection on this work. (need to be in first person)

PRIMARY CARE OFFICE

Small Primary Care Physician Office

#Write 200 words per post

Post 1: Describe the health organization your group has decided to form (hospital, small primary care physician office, health insurance company, billing company, healthcare IT company, etc.). Do some research and think outside the box. If you’re unsure if your organization falls within the framework of being healthcare-focused, be sure to confirm the type of organization with your professor first.

· Post 2: Read chapter one of the course textbook and use its concepts to discuss why the organization was formed. In general, this post should focus on what current challenges will it help solve, and what opportunities exist for the organization (from an overall healthcare landscape). However, there should be far more detail provided than just answering the above questions.

· Post 3: Use this slide to discuss the history of organizations similar to yours. Try to especially focus on the following concepts from chapter 2: how data analytics will be used by your organization, project management, and your organization’s performance improvement philosophies.

· Post 4: Heavily dwell on how evidence-based medicine will be used when operating your organization. Feel free to focus on other points from chapter 3.

MATH106: Introduction to Formulas

Formulas are models of problem solutions. In Module 1, you learned how to evaluate and manipulate formulas from many different application areas. This allows you to use a formula in many ways. Specifically, if there are n variables in the formula, there are n different representations of it. You can solve any of the n variables in terms of the (n-1) other variables to solve even more problems without rethinking the process. Thus, formulas allow you to reach solutions more quickly. Formulas can help you predict solutions also. This module week, you will work with a specific formula to investigate what happens when a variable value in the formula is changed. Recall that I = PRT is the formula for simple interest where I is the simple interest accumulated from multiplying the original amount of money, Principal, by the interest rate per year given as a percent, and Time, in years. The total amount of money, A, you accumulate at the end of T years, if you are saving money, is given by the formula A = P + I. This is the same formula for the amount of money you have paid back on a loan after T years. Borrowing and saving money are things you are going to do throughout life. This formula is only the tip of the iceberg for financial literacy. Let’s have some fun with it! Before taking out a loan, it is essential to know the repayment terms and how your interest rate and the time of the loan affect the total loan balance. For simplicity in this assignment, assume each monthly payment contains an equal principal and interest amount. In this discussion, you will examine how a formula is used to explain the effects of changing variable values. Please proceed to the Prepare section.

Prepare

  • Think of a big-ticket item you might need to take out a loan to purchase. Dream big! What have you always wanted? This could be a boat, car, motorcycle, or a trip around the world, but not a house. (A house loan has many other considerations.) Research the cost of this item and be sure to bookmark the link.
  • Review the terminology from pages 132-133 of the textbook if necessary. Think about any computational sub-steps that need to be taken. Note that in simple interest, the monthly payment is the same each month.
  • Select a reasonable interest rate for your item (between 2% and 10% is standard). It does not have to be a whole number. Then, select a time period to pay off your loan (between 3 and 12 years is common). It is standard to be a whole number.
  • Please proceed to the Initial Post section.

Initial Post

For your initial post, respond to the following prompts.
  1. Describe the item you are taking a loan out for and state the purchase price. For purposes of the assignment, assume the price includes all taxes, etc.
  2. Include the direct URL so your peers can view your big-ticket item.
  3. Using the simple interest formula, state your chosen interest rate and amount of time for your loan.
  4. Show the formula with numbers and describe the steps to compute the interest on the loan, I, and the total amount of the loan, A. You may use a calculator to perform the computations.
  5. Think about it, then show the equations with numbers and describe the steps to compute the monthly payment, M, for the life of the loan. You may use a calculator to perform the computations.
  6. Explain one way to verify your monthly payment is correct. Show the formula and use a calculator for the computations.
  7. Submit your initial post to the discussion by the fourth day of the module week. You must make your initial post before you can see your classmates’ posts.
Please proceed to the Response Prompts section.

Math Discussion: Linear System.

PLEASE REPLY TO EACH DISCUSSION WITH SIGNIFICANT CONTENT. THERE ARE TWO DISCUSSIONS. DO NOT JUST AGREE WITH THE STUDENT BUT PROVIDE SUPPORTING CONTENT IF YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE. THERE ARE TWO DISCUSSION RESPONSES. PLEASE RESPOND WITH A MINUMUM OF 100 words FOR EACH DISCUSSION.

  • What is the geometric sense of a linear system in two variables and a linear system in three variables?

A system with two variables has linear equations that determine a line on the x and y plane. Since the equations are linear they describe lines. Because a solution to a linear system must satisfy all the equations, the solution is the intersection of these lines. This could be either a line, a single point, or an empty set. For three variables each linear equation determines a plane in a 3D space, and the solution set is the intersection of these planes. This means the solution may be a plane, a line, a single point, or an empty set

Cramer’s rule allows us to find the solution by using determinants. The main determinant is the coefficient matrix. This is put as D. Then there is a determinant for each function. Like D sub x, D sub y, D sub z, etc. You must make a column. After you find the determinant of the coefficient matrix you must replace the first column of the coefficient matrix with constant numbers to find the determinant. Then you make a second column for y and so on.

  • Describe in your own words the meaning of inverse matrix.

Matrix B is uniquely determined by A and is called an inverse of A and at this point is denoted. A square matrix is singular if the determinant is 0. A square matrix that is not invertible is called a singular or degenerate.

Sample responses

1. In regards to linear equations with two variables in the geometric sense, we can tell right away that this equation exists on two planes the X and Y place when the two meet at a single point we use that as a solution to the linear equation. In linear equations with three variables, we have three planes the X, Y, and Z, this becomes a bit more difficult to find a solution for as many points might meet in two planes but are not solutions to the equation unless they meet on all three planes. 2. We use determinants for solving a system of equations by making it easier to view what values need to be multiplied by one another and from there if the answers need to be subtracted or added to ultimately get the answer of the determinant. Especially ones that have three variables. It simplifies the system visually in order to mitigate any mistakes one may make if it was shown another way. 3. The inverse of a matrix is for example A-1 which in turn would give us the identity matrix in the end. We know it turns into an identity matrix when we reach a matrix that is 2×2 in size or in that same pattern 6×6, 5×5, etc. When getting the inverse matrix you must switch the rightmost values with each other and give the new top value on the right side a negative as well as the bottom left value. This begins the process of finding the inverse then you solve as required and you would ultimately end up with the identity matrix.
