Forensic Psychology

#Forensic psychology is the melding of psychological assessments within the construct of legal precedents. For example, insanity is a legal concept; it is not a diagnosis and is not listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).

#Use Chapter 3 of the Bartol & Bartol (2019) text as the foundation to discuss the skills that are necessary to conduct effective forensic psychological assessments while remaining true to the expectations and philosophies of both the field of psychology and the field of law. Include information from your review of a relevant scholarly journal.

• Your initial post should be at least 300 words in length.
• Support your observations with examples from the required materials and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references.
• Respond to at least two of your colleagues’ posts by Day 7.

Be sure to include the incongruence between these two areas of education and expertise, as well as the areas of congruence. Also, discuss the impact the issue of psychological forensics has on the criminal justice system as a whole and the community it serves, and whether you agree with your peer’s views – and why or why not. Continue to monitor the discussion forum until 5:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) on Day 7, and respond with robust dialogue to anyone who replies to your initial post.
